Hui Kāpehe Program

The Kahoʻolawe Island Reserve Commission (KIRC) is proud to announce that its Hui Kāpehe Program has been selected as one of seven national grant program recipients through the Native Hawaiian Career and Technical Education Program (NHCTEP), in partnership with Alu Like Inc.

The KIRC's Hui Kāpehe college internship program offers work-related experience, community service learning, and job shadowing opportunities related to career and technical education (CTE) focusing on sustainability and Hawaiian culture. 50 students of Native Hawaiian descent will be accepted each program year.

Program Offerings

  1. KIRC's UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) Best Practice and Certification Preparation Course
  2. PADI Open Water Diver Certification Course
  3. Lifeguard (Pool) Certiifcation Course
  4. First Aid/CPR Course
  5. Boater's Education (On-line)

Program Requirements

  1. Complete and submit required documents
  2. Attend and complete ONE certification course
  3. Attend at least ONE Culturla Workshop
  4. PArticipate in one KahoƏolawe Access.
